Mu ar deidhinn | About Us

Chaidh Seachdain na Gàidhlig a stèidheachadh ann an 2014, le dìreach còig tachartasan. Ann an 2017, bha barrachd air 30 tachartasan a’ dol! Tha an fhèis seo a’ dèanamh fèill air coimhearsnachd Gàidhlig Dhùn Èideann, san àm a dh’fhalbh agus san latha an-diugh.

The Edinburgh Gaelic Festival was first established in 2014 as Gaelic Week with only 5 events, and it’s been developing ever since. 2017’s festival showcased over 30 events! The Edinburgh Gaelic Festival celebrates Edinburgh’s Gaelic community, past and present.

Tha comataidh de bhuill saor-thoileach ga ruith, le Oifigear Gàidhlig Oilthigh Dhùn Èideann sa chathair. Bidh buidhnean air feadh a’ bhaile a’ cur diofar tachartasan air dòigh. ‘S e oidhirp choimhearsnachd a th’ anns an fhèis! Bidh tachartasan de iomadh seòrsa a’ dol – rudeigin son daoine gun Gàidhlig no luchd-làbhairt fileanta; rudeigin son teaghlaich is rudeigin son inbhich.

The festival is run by a committee of volunteers, with the Edinburgh University Gaelic Officer chairing. Groups across the city contribute by organising events. The festival is very much a community effort! There are diverse events that take place during the festival – something for non-Gaelic speakers to fluent speakers; something for families and something for adults.

Tha sinn an dòchas gun gabh sibh pàirt san fhèis againn am bliadhna.

We hope you will be part of the Edinburgh Gaelic Festival this year.
